Abstract :
We discuss the problem of diffraction of a plane electromagnetic wave by a periodic array of thick or thin strips. This problem has become classical not only because of its wide practical application, but also because it reveals various sides of the technique to be investigated. We start with a dual series equation, and, introducing a new function, we eventually come up with a singular integral equation (SIE) on the segment (0,b). The digitization of the integral equation is carried out by means of a Gauss type quadrature formula
