Abstract :
A novel flameless electromagnetic heater for the army to heat up ration in field operation is presented in this paper. It uses the hysteresis and eddy current thermal power in the solid iron and the short-circuit current thermal power in the short copper bars to heat up ration. The mathematical model of the flameless heater is given based on the reverse problem of temperature rise and loss in electrical machines. By the 3D time step finite element analysis, the magnetic and eddy current field distribution and the short-circuit current waveform in the heater are given, and the thermal power of the heater in different rotation speed are calculated. At last, the experiment is presented, and the temperature rise curves of the heater at different speed are drawn. The study in the paper has built a basic platform for the further research of this kind of heaters.
