Abstract :
DSA (digital subtraction angiography) produces images of structures opacified by a contrast agent and is useful to quantify vascular structures, which improve diagnosis. The aim of such a quantification is twofold. First, it allows geometric characterization of structures. The authors review the literature and their own results in this area. The quantification also permits blood-flow analysis through the use of the image intensity-contrast agent concentration relationship. Principles and current implementation difficulties of this approach, using densitometric data, are discussed.<>
