Abstract :
An definition for Assistive Technology (AT) was formulated in 2001 stating “Assistive Technology (AT) is any product or service designed to enable independence for disabled or older people.” This definition was adopted by the authors of the European Union (EU), ZigBee will play an important part towards the adoption of Assistive Technology by enabling wireless low-power communication between devices and services that foster safe, healthy, and, independent living conditions for the disabled or elderly. The purpose of this paper just focuses on applications of ZigBee technology for disease monitoring, personal wellness monitoring and personal fitness monitoring, which also presents the commissioning details based on three different deployment scenarios including: Service provider scenario, In-home scenario and Consumer scenario.
