Abstract :
This paper describes a fiber-optic access network platform that supports multi-media services. The evolution of the existing access network into a fiber-optic access network is discussed. Passive Double Star (PDS) transport technology and advanced AM-video transmission technology are proposed for achieving cost effectiveness and flexible access capability. Three PDS-based fiber-optic transport systems, narrowband, video distribution and broadband systems, are demonstrated as the platform
