Abstract :
The characteristics of EDS Maglev are larger levitation gap, steadier levitation force and simpler track structure. Whereas lower L/D (the lift-to-drag) ratio and bigger weight of Halbach array are adverse for the Maglev. Hence the magnet needs optimizing. This paper presents an optimization index of utilization ratio of magnetic materials to get reasonable length of magnetic block. Rational width of block based on magnetic charge method is put forward to obtain higher horizontal component of the magnetic field. Through finding best offset angle of magnetization vector, offset-Halbach structure is made to acquire even higher horizontal component. The results of the optimization design are tested in laboratory with practical Halbach arrays.
