Abstract :
This paper presents a novel L-source inverter applied to AC induction motor starter system. The L-source inverter can work under shoot through zero-vector situation with storage inductance which allows the upper and lower power switches of one half-bridge shoot through simultaneously. It provides higher output voltage than traditional ones and overcomes the problem of voltage drop in traditional starters which are powered by batteries. The new topology achieves the functions of DC-DC and DC-AC conversion and simplifies the starter system, increases the stability of whole system. The detailed operation principle is proposed in this paper, simulation and experiment results validate the analysis and feasibility.
