Abstract :
Because of the stringent EMI regulation, noises generated from high switching frequency converters need to be analyzed and suppressed. EMI noises in power converters are generally layout and package related. This paper outlines an approach to the analysis of conducted EMI noise using the partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method, where parasitic elements are extracted. As an illustration, the EMI analysis of a boost PFC ballast circuit is performed. Theoretical predictions of common-mode, differential-mode, and total conducted EMI noises are verified by experimental measurements. Design guidelines on circuit layout and packaging are presented for EMI noise minimization
