Abstract :
The implementation of a real-time digital predictive current controller for a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) inverter feeding a PM synchronous motor using the TMS320C30 digital signal processor (DSP) is presented. The DSP is entirely responsible for the current controller implementation, even the generation of drive signals for the inverter. As the accuracy depends on the motor parameters, in particular on the motor electromotive force (EMF) and on the DC voltage source, the real EMF waveform and the DC voltage are used in calculations to improve the control accuracy. Digital simulation and experimental results using a prototype 1 kW servo drive are presented and discussed
