  • Abstract
Techniques that were available for building electronic diagnostic systems were evaluated. All avenues of development that could lead to a concise practical approach were covered. Knowledge implementation in causal reasoning and in heuristic classification (FET device) was considered. The application of the heuristic classification syyttwas shown to be best suited for small systems. It could be used to teach the symptoms of devices, which might enable users of the causal system to have a better understanding of what they do. The causal system was ideal for large systems. The establish/refine summary after running the process provided a detailed analysis report about the system
