  • Abstract
    Summary form only given. We study the problem of error-resilient transmission of video data at very low bit rates, using unequal error protection (UEP). In particular, we consider a theoretical framework for the selection of parameters for optimal allocation of redundancy when of the protection method is based on rate-compatible punctured convolutional (RCPC) codes, over an AWGN channel. The theoretical results were found to be similar with optimal rate allocation and quantization in traditional lossy data compression, where transmission problems are not considered
