Abstract :
The authors consider the effect of the reference model on the control performance of model reference adaptive control (MRAC) for a distributed parameter system (DPS). The design methods of MRAC for DPSs are classified into three types. In practical application, the design method for a lumped parameter system (LPS) is useful. In the presented study, the Galerkin method is employed as the approximation method which converts the DPS into an LPS. Numerical analysis was used to investigate the validity of this approximating method, and some problems were found when the system was constructed based on the reference model using the approximated model
