Abstract
The effect of cross correlation between shadowing components on macrodiversity schemes is studied. The outage probability is assumed as a performance measure and the relevant result is that cross correlation strongly affects the outage characteristics in terms of the average outage duration and, with greater evidence, in terms of the outage occurrence rate. Numerical results are obtained through simulation for the case of correlated shadowings and through analysis for the reference case of no correlated shadowings
