Abstract :
This paper proposes the shared-sequence-number ARQ (SSN-ARQ) scheme that achieves efficient and high-quality transmission for multimedia wireless communication systems. The proposed scheme gives the same sequence number (SN) to several sequential packets in order to decrease the maximum sequence number. Computer simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme offers throughput performance equivalent to that of the conventional scheme with fewer sequence number bits. The results also show that its throughput performance of the proposed scheme is excellent and steady even in the presence of higher packet error rate (PER) and large round trip time (RTT)
