Abstract :
The emerging control techniques which utilize artificial neural networks and fuzzy logic are compared with conventional proportional-integral (PI) control for the velocity and position control of a DC motor. The performance of the control techniques is compared in terms of rise time, settling time, tracking error, smoothness of response, and robustness with respect to modeling errors and disturbances. The control design process and implementation requirements are also discussed
