Abstract :
A new process for solid lubrication of enameled magnet wires is reported. The authors examine the reasons why magnet wire should have a low coefficient of friction, the possibilities of achieving low friction by processes applied in industry, and which problems appear thereby, especially for solvent-based techniques. The principles of a new process which consists of transferring a solid, meltable, lubricant from an impregnated yarn to the surface of magnet wires directly after the enameling oven are presented. It is shown how this new process can be adapted to the requirements of modern magnet wire production equipment. Lubrication quality control questions, the possibilities of development of this process, and the products based thereon are discussed
