  • Abstract
The authors report an improved sequential data reduction method for computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) with a discussion of the point significance that indicates how a point in the figure contributes to the shape of that figure. The parameter defined as the point significance can indicate the corner points of the figure. Spline or Bezier curves are used to extend the variety of data in the CAD system. To reduce the data from the CAD system without losing its original shape, a rapid sequential method is proposed. With this proposed sequential method, data reduction is possible keeping the distance between input and output data within a given tolerance. This method also realizes the acceptance of a large amount of data into a small CIM. Through several simulations, the efficiency of this method is shown
