Abstract :
HIPERLAN/2 is a wireless LAN system currently being specified by ETSI BRAN for use in the 5 GHz band. The system uses a channel spacing of 20 MHz and will provide data rates up to 54 Mb/s (2.7 bit/s/Hz). The typical application is communication between portable computers and a fixed data network. The high data rates together with the limited number of available frequency carriers (approximately nine) implies that deploying a full coverage, multicell system is challenging. A potential radio network solution based on automatic frequency assignment, link adaptation and multibeam antennas is presented in this paper. Simulation results show that the presented solution provide a high peak data rate and system throughput
