Abstract :
Wireless ATM (WATM) will be used to support broadband multimedia services. To achieve this goal, the existing ATM protocol must be augmented with the mobility function. Handover is one of important function of mobility management in the WATM system, In this paper a number of schemes about handover re-routing are proposed for wireless ATM networks and performance analyzed; and a simple lossless backward inter-switch handover is described in detail. Finally this paper presents a simple signaling and control architecture for mobility support in a wireless ATM network that provides integrated multimedia services to mobile terminals
