Abstract :
The symbol error probability (SEP) of a DSP implemented π/M-MDPSK modem, using quasi-analytic simulation techniques, is the subject of this investigation. As the data requirements increase (M increases), the ability to cope with the implementation losses of the high-density modulation scheme becomes more challenging. The adaptive rate modem is one approach to increasing the data rate based on a given standard, in this case the North American TDMA standard for data transportation, IS-130. The problem addressed here is the implementation of this concept using a DSP modem design and to mitigate the effects introduced by different parts of the modem. In this paper the quasi-analytic method is used to calculate the symbol error probability (SEP) for M=4,...,64
