Abstract :
In order to prove the function of firewall on defending the DOS nuke attack, the procedure and attribute of the Dos nuke attack was studied and analyzed. On the base of these, the attack and defence model of the Dos nuke attack was designed in the OPNET simulation environment. It simulated the network packet volume during before and after the attack on a victim host computer, and simulated the greatly reduction of the network packet volume on the victim host computer after adding a firewall between the computer and a packet generator. The security function of the firewall model is proved effectively from the point of simulation. It has some reference value to proving defence ability on firewall in simulation environment.
