Abstract :
Ultrasonic computed tomography (UCT) is used for noninvasive temperature measurement in hyperthermia in human body. A model for temperature measurement has been established, and an UCT algorithm for the model has been developed. The authors also analyze the resolution and the time requirements of the measurement, and a method of sparse reconstruction to measure the distribution of sound speed and the temperature is proposed. The method of ultrasonic diffraction reconstruction and the fast convolution-backpropagation algorithm are used for image reconstruction. A new approach to diffraction reconstruction from limited data is proposed. The error of the temperature measurement is less than 0.25 degrees C and the reconstruction time less than 12 s for one image using a microcomputer.<>
