Abstract
Noise coupling theory of the newly discovered mix-mode EMI is reviewed and a procedure for designing ac power line filters is proposed to contain this phenomenon. Incorporation of the mix-mode EMI noise considerations in a filter design procedure can lead to significant reductions in filter size. A practical filter design example for a 150 W off-line full-bridge switching power converter is presented in the paper and the results are confirmed by experimental measurements.
