Abstract :
The Fieldbus is a serial communication system for process control, currently being standardized by the IEC, to connect field devices to each other and to the control system. The authors discuss and analyze the effects of faults in the Fieldbus data link layer (DLL) protocol. It is pointed out that the recovery mechanisms provided by the draft standard cannot handle all possible faults. Some additional mechanisms are considered to recover the most dangerous faults located in the station receiver
