  • Abstract
    Like the bemused traveler in Walter de la Mare´s cele brated poem, we have been wondering for a long time if anyone else is out there in the universe. In a recent testimony before a House Committee on Science, Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the SETI Institute [2], offered the following optimistic assessment [3]: It´s unproven whether there is any life beyond Earth. I think that situation is going to change within everyone´s lifetime in this room.
