Abstract
A virtual cellular network (VCN) is a wireless cellular network wherein a single mobile station (MS) can be in simultaneous communication with more than one base station (BS). This paper presents the implementation of a multiple access (MAC) protocol for a virtual cellular network. The proposed MAC protocol is used in combination with a link protocol to allow the use of multiple qualities of service (QoS). The advantages of a VCN over a traditional cellular network are discussed. A protocol is presented that distributes radio resources in a VCN. Finally, two optimizations to this protocol are presented, together with their impact on system stability and throughput
