Abstract
Convergence is the main developing trend of heterogeneous networks in the future. The convergence of 3G cellular network and MANET can provide data communication service with or without an existing infrastructure only with 3G terminals. Synchronization is a critical part for any distributed system. We propose a new synchronization protocol called GTP(GPS-aided Time-syn Protocol) on the convergence of TD-SCDMA cellular network in which air interface standard is proposed by CHINA and MANET. This synchronization protocol aided by GPS is based on SS broadcasting. This protocol solves the synchronization conflict difficulties between TD-SCDMA and MANET. At last we evaluate the performance of the protocol.
