Abstract
An optimal control system synthesis method is proposed which can achieve vector control and speed control simultaneously for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. A state-space multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) model for PMSM is developed, and the nonlinearities terms are discussed. Present methods of achieving vector control and servo control of PMSM are also discussed. A pseudolinearized PMSM model is obtained through state detection and an optimal speed controller is developed based on the pseudolinearized model. An integral control technique is incorporated to eliminate speed offsets. An observer is developed to eliminate the speed sensor in the drive
