Abstract :
The authors describe the fully digital implementation of a three-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor drive. After a description of the implemented control algorithms (vector control for currents and PI compensation for speed), the experimental system is presented. The system mainly consists of a multicomputer architecture, a transistor inverter, and a 5-Nm synchronous motor with buried permanent magnets. Experimental results demonstrating the realization of the system and its feasibility are presented. It is noted that. due to the multiprocessing capabilities of transputer and Occam. there are no theoretical limits to system performance, allowing the implementation of very complex control algorithms. The use of high-level languages (both Occam and C) allows the easy development of control programs
