Abstract :
Paper discusses the concepts for the characterization of operational events and safety issues in terms of quantitative risk significance. The purpose is to provide means for distinguishing those events or issues which should be subject to a deeper investigation aimed at identifying the corrective measures for preventing their repetitions. The types of information from probabilistic risk analyses (PRA) which can be used for this purpose, also by the evaluators which are not necessarily PRA oriented, are pointed out and examples and illustrations provided.
