Abstract :
Both mechanical and electric characteristics of the electric connector in electric vehicle (EV) are researched. The mechanical stress, electromagnetic stress and thermal stress of the electric connector are calculated when the connector works in steady state. It´s found that the electromagnetic stress and thermal stress can be ignored because they are too small comparing with the mechanical stress. When the electric connector works in dynamic state, the pin and the socket of the connector may separate. In this condition, the electric field between the pin and the socket will be increased. And the electric field strength has exceeded the breakdown electric field strength of air. And this analysis can provide a reference for the design of the electric connector in the EV.
