Abstract
Distributed parameter identification arises in many fields of applications. Identifying spatially varying parameters has been a challenging topic both theoretically and numerically. We introduce some preliminary results regarding a new identification procedure designed for identifying unknown parameter zones under very weak assumptions. The procedure incorporates a few innovative ideas into standard genetic algorithm framework. Two examples are tested and results are presented to illustrate this new approach
