Abstract :
This paper presents a new methodology for fast determination of optimal location of static var compensation (SVC). This methodology is tested on four systems, the IEEE 14, 30 and 57 bus test systems, and the Southern Spanish transmission network. Two indices are proposed to evaluate the performance of the system with respect to contingencies and voltage profiles. To compare the answer of different systems a norm is proposed
