Abstract
In the network communication, Mainly uses the RED algorithm to solve network congestion. But in the RED algorithm, the packet loss rate is linear with the average queue length. The result is that the packet loss rate is bigger when the network congestion is not more serious, and the packet loss rate is smaller when the network congestion is more serious. That reduces the congestion control. For those reasons, the RED algorithm is improved by changing Pb expression, when the average queue length is near the minimum threshold value, the growth of packet loss rate is relatively smaller, near the maximum threshold value, the growth of packet loss rate is more, to avoid the global synchronization of the network. Simulation with NS-2.30 confirms that the IMPRED (improved RED) algorithm can improve network throughput, reduce delay jitter, make the network more stable.
