Abstract
The present study is to find an efficient method for extracting pilose antler polypeptide (PAP), and the immunological function of PAP was systematically evaluated. Sephadex G-50 Molecular exclusion chromatography and CM-Sepharose Fast Flow ion exchange chromatography were used to extract PAP which is more efficient than traditional method. Spleen lymphocyte proliferation assays and cytokine IL-12 secretion assays were used to study the immunological function of PAP. The different concentrations of PAP (4.5 ug/ml, 5 ug/ml, 5.5 ug/ml and 6 ug/ml) have significantly advanced effect on the lymphocyte cell proliferation. The result indicated that PAP may have an important immunological function to improve hosts´ immunity in vivo.
