Abstract :
This paper describes the analysis procedures in order to find the best technical solution for connecting geothermal power plant in the medium-voltage distribution power network. Medium-voltage electricity distribution network has two voltage levels. These are 10 kV and 35 kV voltage levels. Connection of the new distributed energy source to the surrounding 10 kV distribution network is not optimal, because there is not enough demand for total generated electricity. Also, distribution to distant consumers has no justification. Geothermal power plant could be successfully connected to the medium distribution power network by construction of new medium-voltage cables. Results of analysis and calculations showed that connection to 10 kV electricity distribution network is not a good choice, because it does not provide a reliable, safe and efficient supply of produced electricity. On the other side, connection with two 35 kV cables to the adjacent 35/10 kV substations turned out to be the best and optimal solution for geothermal power plant connection.
