Abstract :
To meet the rapidly growing demand of quality of service (QoS) while lowering the hardware cost such as the RF chains associated with antennas in the uplink of multiuser multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems, this paper presents a simple, yet effective scheme for joint receive antenna selection and symbol detection based on the maximum likelihood (ML) criterion. This joint approach, however, is highly nonlinear. Aiming at solving the complex nonlinear optimization with reduced computational overhead, a variant of the conventional genetic algorithm (GA) is employed. Conducted simulations show that the new approach yields superior performance with reduced computational complexity compared with pervious works in various scenarios.
