Abstract :
The paper describes the work done in the construction of a vision based monitoring station, devoted to control an indoor industrial transport system composed of mobile robots. To construct this application, the essential needs of a generic surveillance system has been analysed. Using an agent oriented approach, a multi agent platform has been established, where different algorithms and strategies can be easily developed and tested. To allow the construction of robust applications, this platform allows the solution of different surveillance tasks in a multimodal way. Different strategies, carried out by different defined agents, can be applied to the same data trying to solve the same task. Subsequently, the results that each agent generates are joined, reaching a consensus on the solution. The feasibility of this multi agent system is shown by the implementation of a first approximation of a mobile robot monitoring station
