Abstract :
A method for order reduction of switched controllers is presented in this paper. The proposed technique is based on the generalized gramian framework for model reduction. To the best of our knowledge, there is no other reported result on switched controller reduction in the literature. The method is an LMI-based technique in which to avoid numerical instability and also to increase the numerical efficiency, generalized gramian based Petrov-Galerkin projection is constructed instead of the similarity transform approach for reduction. The stability of the closed-loop system under arbitrary switching signal is proven to be preserved in the reduction and the technique is applicable to both continuous and discrete time systems. The performance of the proposed method is illustrated by numerical example.
