Abstract :
For the remote sensing of water surface salinity we use the radar method of measuring the power reflection coefficient which is defined by the complex dielectric constant (CDC). The same parameter, in fact, is estimated in UHF radiometric measurements of water salinity. In the case considered here of normal incidence of a plane electromagnetic wave on a smooth water surface the value of the reflection coefficient is defined by the Fresnel relation
