Abstract :
In this paper, an optical video/audio analog transceiver using direct intensity modulation (DIM) technique is presented. The information signal is transmitted directly in the base band. With DIM, no electric modulation or demodulation is required with this technique, making it both inexpensive and easy to implement. Using the handheld optical power meter and tone generator, we show the tradeoff between the drive voltage and output power as well as the spectrum width. We also show that the quality of signal reception is comparable to voltage supplied to the circuit.
