  • Abstract
Interest has been increasing in chaotic communication systems due to the potential for inherent synchronisation, modulation and security in a simple system. However, many proposed systems are sensitive to channel distortion, system mismatch and noise. Typically identical synchronisation (IS) is used, but this paper demonstrates that these systems have a fundamental lack of robustness to a channel. Generalised synchronisation (GS) using chaos shift keying (GS CSK) is proposed as an alternative scheme. The effect of channel noise and distortion is shown to be significantly reduced over IS systems
