Abstract
To examine the effects of Puerarin solution on alcohol-induced injuries in hippocampus. Thirty Wistar rats were divided into control group, model group and puerarin group. After 30 days, the Endotoxin (ET) levels in plasma and TNF-α in cerebral tissue were measured. Pathological changes in cerebral tissue were observed by light microscope. ET and TNF-α in the model group were significantly higher than those in the control group (p<;0.05); ET and TNF-α in puerarin group was slightly higher than those in the control group and significantly lower than those in the model group (p<;0.01); Mild pathological changes in hippocampus of model group, no obvious pathological changes in the other groups. The protective effects of puerarin may be related to its inhibition of ET and TNF-α production.
