Abstract :
This paper presents a novel technique for analyzing transient performance of cell streams at an ATM link. Transient performance analysis is important, since performance of a connection is in fact dominated by the transient behavior of the underlying traffic process. The previous work on transient performance analysis typically assumes that the traffic processes are Markovian. The novelty of the technique presented is that it permits the underlying traffic process to be non-Markovian
