Abstract :
Hong Kong is renowned as one of the world´s fastest growing financial, commercial and industrial centres, and information technology (IT) is used extensively in the territory by both the public and private sectors. Unlike many western countries, there is no data protection legislation in Hong Kong to control the use of IT or protect the privacy of the individual. The paper examines the current situation and discusses the issues involved if data protection law were implemented in Hong Kong
