The empirical analysis of tariff protection of high-tech industry

Based on the theory of the effective rate of protection, using the formula of effective protection rate, the paper calculates the effective protection rate of China´s high-tech industry, specifically for the electronic and telecommunication industry and instrument industry. Comparing with these two departments´ nominal tariff rate and the effective rate of protection, it gives the degree of the protection of the tariff status over the high-tech industry in china, further studies the trend of China´s tariff policy and puts forwards some tariff reform proposals on optimizing tariff structure of effective protection.
