Abstract
This paper discusses various issues related to partitioning of a protocol stack between a host machine and an NIU. It describes the experiments carried out to understand the partitioning of the OSI protocol layers. OSINET networking software is used in the experiments designed specifically for this purpose. The implementation details along with performance measurements are presented
