Abstract :
We demonstrate a moderate output power Yb3+- doped silica double-clad fibre laser which is end-pumped by a single unfocused diode laser. The launch efficiency into the polymer-clad fibre was -80%, and the maximum output power was 1.8 W with a slope efficiency of 74%.
