Abstract :
Quality Management System Standard BS EN ISO9001 1994 is a management tool. It describes in a few short pages some good management practice necessary for producing goods and services that meet customer requirements. By accepting this premise the author begins to explore the controversy surrounding the Standard, and the benefits that accrue from accredited certification. The author suggests that if there is an understanding of the purpose behind the standard, then it can be better assessed whether there is method or whether there is madness
