Abstract :
Over-voltage limitation in ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission line is necessary. This paper proposes using a novel magnetic controllable reactor (MCR) to limit the over-voltage produced in the UHV transmission line. The operation principle of the MCR is presented. Mathematical models of the UHV transmission line with MCR is established. Steady state and transient simulations of the system are performed. The result of simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the MCR on the over-voltage limitation.
